2016 | Graham Field

We  want to thank  Magic Carpet for all you did to make our trip to Iran such a success.

From our initial tentative enquiry on the telephone last Autumn, through all the visa application procedures , to the detail and planning of the travel arrangements you were always helpful, efficient and reassuring . Our many  questions  were answered with clarity ,practicality – and patience !

The 4 hotels we stayed in were all of a high standard. The Shiraz Homa Hotel is rather anonymous but the luxurious bedroom was most welcome on each of our 3 nights there, the ground floor rooms in the extension at the Abassi are rather dark but on our return visit we were offered a choice of rooms and were very happy with ours, the Espinas in Tehran was excellent  and the staff  could not have been more attentive and our room at the Moshir-al-Mamalak in Yazd was charming and its restaurant we thought provided the best food of all the hotels  ( in contradiction  to Lonely Planet’s comments).

The irrepressible Mr Sassan is a lovely ,attentive and caring gentleman who seems to know everyone in the country and , as you suggested, appears  to have the ability to open locked doors. We felt safe , reassured and comfortable at all times. As you know he has a very individual style and , especially during our 4 days extension ,we acquired quite an affection for him. We would like to stay in touch and should be grateful if you could let us have his email address.

We were excited and enchanted by the magnificent sites of Iran and overwhelmed by the friendliness  of so many of the people we met .  Our expectations of Persepolis and Isfahan -already high – were exceeded and among other highlights for us were the Sassanian stone reliefs at Naqsh-e Rostam, the mosques we visited during our extension in Natanz and Na’in and the beautifully  displayed collection at the Glass and Ceramic Museum in Tehran  which we visited independently.

Thank you again

All best wishes

Graham
